Vixen stands in solidarity with queer activists who protested state and corporate pinkwashing at the 2024 Midsumma Festival. Vixen unequivocally condemns the violent response from police, and disgraceful comments from politicians and festival organisers in the aftermath.
Police violence against protesters at Midsumma is not an isolated incident, nor a “historical issue”. Police violence against our communities is ongoing, pervasive and deliberate.
The ongoing inclusion of cops, corporations and politicians in Pride means that queer people who continue to endure violence, oppression and exploitation at their hands, are excluded.
Pride has always been a protest. Vixen celebrates and supports all those who stand against state and corporate violence, exploitation and oppression!
